The Battle of Blue Springs morns the loss of John I. Myers

The Battle of Blue Springs wishes to express our heartfelt sympathy and prayers for the John I. Myers family with the recent loss of this wonderful man on December 15th, 2008. John I. was not just the land owner for the property where the annual Battle of Blue Springs Education Day and Reenactment has taken place for more then 17 years; he was also one of the original founders of the Battle of Blue Springs in the early 1990's. Mr. John was also one of Greene Counties most significant citizens. Widely known for his community leadership and philanthropic activities, Mr. John was also the keeper, in many ways, of the history of our Greene County community. When John I. told a story about a Greene County historic figure or event (and he told a lot of them), he made it come to life and it always felt as though he himself had been a first place witness to the actual event, regardless of how far back in history the incident took place. His direct participation in our annual BBS Education Day, will not only be missed, his absence has already left a hole in any future venues. The Battle of Blue Springs joins the rest of our Greene County community in morning the passing of this truely wonderful man as this gracious story-teller now joins those other Greene County historic citizens in immortality. - Jim 'Pudden' Allen Posted: December 26th, 2008.
